Day 2:32 pm

  • British Standards online beta search service

BSOL are making improvements to their search service which you can try out in their beta search box. It has been designed to cope more easily with the numbering system used for draft standards. Also small numbers, such as BS4, will now come to the top of the results list instead of showing a mix of any number with a 4 in it. It should also now bring up all the parts in a series.

Search within has also been improved – previously you could only put in a standard number at this point but now you can add keywords. BSOL have put “Give us some feedback” links by the beta search box so you can let them know what you think of the changes before they become permanent.

Sorry about the cancelled SURF social before Christmas … snow stopped play! We are now planning a “Beat the Winter Blues” social for Thursday 17th February 2011 at 4pm in the SURF Room.

If you are intrigued about SURF or would like to meet colleagues from across campus we hope that you will come along. Feel free to bring a friend – come and talk to old friends, meet new ones, and perhaps help plan SURF activities for the new year!

We hope you can make it!
